Sunny Florida

From March 12th-17th, I went to sunny northern Florida with a few of my friends to visit our friend who lives there over Spring Break. We lucked out with beautiful weather, and even got a little tan. Now that I'm back in cold New York, I'm looking back on my pictures and looking forward to warmer days...

We were also lucky enough to be in Florida just in time to see NASA launch a shuttle into space!

Le Petit Prince

When I was in Italy in the summer of 2007, I bought a copy of The Little Prince in Italian and struggled my way through it with an Italian-English dictionary. (I had studied Italian for a year at that point.) I had read it when I was 11 years old, but it meant so much more to me as a young adult than as a pre-teen. I decided that I wanted to collect it in different languages, and buy it in the language of each new country I traveled to. That soon expanded to asking my friends to buy it for me when they traveled to different countries. Since I, along with most of my friends, spent a semester abroad in the fall of 2008, I amassed quite a large collection in a short period of time. The rule is that either I or a friend has to buy it for me in a foreign country - no internet or international bookstore shopping allowed!

Here are my copies of Antoine de Saint-Exupery's Le Petit Prince in 19 different languages - about half of which I purchased myself.

Bottom: Latin, Catalàn, Spanish, French

Dancing around the World

Some of you have probably heard of, or seen youtube videos of, that guy who dances all of the world. Today in one of my classes a professor brought him up and showed us one of his videos. I think I had heard of him before but never really watched a video all the way through. He dances with people from countries all over the world - he started out doing this with his own money, then was sponsored by Stride gum. Here's one of the videos...it's great!

On a completely unrelated note, did you know that Sleepless in Seattle is going to be made into a Broadway musical, expected to come out sometime in 2010? Here is the NYTimes brief about it. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that...we'll have to wait and see.

Wintersong

I just found this great music video through my friend Jackie. The animation is so sweet, and it's very appropriate for the snowstorm today, especially because it leaves you with hope for springtime. Enjoy!
